From this trip, I became even more convinced that European countries are worth visiting more than once 😀

We planned this trip with my family at the beginning of the year. I’m not even sure why we chose Vienna, but most probably my sister suggested it, and I’m always up for anything related to history and beautiful architecture.

So, my vacation started with a bus to Kyiv (approximately 5 hours), followed by a night train to Poland (10 hours). We met with my family in Przemyśl, Poland, and from there we planned to take a night train to Vienna.

The train ride was actually pretty nice. The only downside was that it was quite cold at night, but thankfully we had blankets.

We arrived early in the morning and started our journey.

First day

We knew we would be tired after all the travelling, so we didn’t plan too much for the first day.

We started with the MuseumsQuartier. After a good walk and an average coffee, we decided to visit the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien (Art History Museum), where we spent the rest of the day.

The museum was so well organized and thoughtfully planned. There were amazing sculptures, exhibits, and so many interesting things to see that it was easy to spend hours there.

Second day

For the second day, we planned a visit to Prater amusement park to have some fun on the roller coasters.

We also took a ride on the Liliputbahn, which was a nice way to explore the park without walking around too much and have a rest a bit.

Third day

For the third day, we had booked Schönbrunn Palace and its park. We had an audio guide and basically spent the whole day walking around and exploring the area.

It was impressive and definitely worth seeing. I did feel like there could have been more places to sit, but overall, it was really well spent time.

Afterward, we had a one-hour boat trip. It was relaxing, but not as impressive as the boat trip in Prague. The river is located along the promenade, so there isn’t actually that much to see.

But after the boat trip, we went to see a light show, and this is something I would recommend everyone try at least once.

So many emotions packed into just 30 minutes! And the church itself looked absolutely astonishing.

Fourth day

As our train back was at night, we had almost the whole day to enjoy Vienna.

We spent some time shopping, walked around a few more parks, visited St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and used the tram in between to give our feet a bit of a break.

Overall impressions

Vienna definitely made me want to come back one more time.

There are still mountains to explore, more churches and historic places to visit, and I’m sure there’s plenty more that we didn’t have time to see.

The food was average, just like the coffee. But the desserts? They were delicious every single time!

So yes, Austria – see you again someday. 🇦🇹
