This year, as usual, was full of amazing books, and I’m glad I’m continuing my strategy of exploring diverse genres – that’s why my brain stays happy and not stressed about “reading just to read”.
Somehow, books have become a replacement for (though not entirely) social media scrolling, watching series or movies.

“Peak Mind” Dr Amishi P.Jha
A thoughtful and research-driven look into how attention actually works and why it matters for everyday life.
The book blends neuroscience with practical mindfulness strategies, making it a useful companion for anyone trying to be more present, calmer, and less reactive.
“Beat stress at work” Mark Simmonds
I didn’t expect this book to be so helpful. After leaving my previous job, it provided me with deeper insights into my personality and strengths.
“I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day” Milly Johnson
Such a warm and cozy book about an unexpected gathering of six people. I truly relaxed with this one, even though some of the stories were touching.
“Of Human Bondage” W. Somerset Maugham
From time to time, I return to classic literature. It creates such a rich atmosphere and reminds me that much of human suffering is timeless.
The protagonist is driven by a relentless hunger for something greater throughout his life, both as a child and as an adult – a desire so powerful. Reading his journey was heartbreaking, yet it allowed me to truly feel alongside him.
“Four Treasures of the Sky” Jenny Tinghui Zhang
Reading stories from other nations broadens our horizons and brings perspective to our own history.
It builds empathy and genuine understanding of other people. Because you never know what someone is truly dealing with.
“The Bell Jar” Sylvia Plath
Last year, while healing from depression, I wasn’t ready for this book. This year, feeling stronger, I finally picked it up.
This is a genuinely soul-crushing book, so it’s not for everyone. It’s specifically valuable if you want to deeply understand the inner world of a young woman navigating major depression.
Reading Beyond the Numbers
Not many books make it into my top list, because I value reading not just for knowledge or good taste, but for the joy, calm, and clarity books bring.
