Building Personal WordPress blog – July Update

july update

Time for a little summer clean-up! I wanted to improve the navigation and overall look of some pages, and the Resources page was first on my list.

I wanted it to feel clearer and more helpful at a glance. So, I started with a quick visual mockup with the help of Lovable.

I liked the direction, so I jumped right into rebuilding the page.

While working on it, I realized that some of the content didn’t really belong there anymore. For example, the “top WordPress podcasts” article was originally published under the custom post type Resources, but it made more sense as a regular blog post.

To move the article from one custom post type to general “Posts”, I used a free Post Type Switcher plugin (super handy!).

Of course, I didn’t forget about redirection! I used Rank Math to manage that – mainly because I already use it for other SEO tasks and it keeps everything in one place.

After the update, my Resources section is now divided into three sub-categories:

  • My Creations – a space for handy tools I’ve made and any mentions on external websites.
  • Bookscoming soon! I plan to create a simple directory of books that have helped me learn and grow.
  • Ukrainian Culture – a small directory for collecting and sharing things I love about Ukraine.

What do you think of the updated page? 🙂
